Uncertainty or Analytics

Well, Hello Everyone!

You guys would be thinking as what kind of topic is this? Most of you would be thinking as I already know what Analytics is, and how to make use of it!

Well, If this is what you are thinking then believe you me, you know everything that is happening in this world, though not to mention that if you really know what analytics is then why it happens that despite analysing the credentials you end up saying “Well, there is always a factor of Uncertainty”, because of which you did not end up having the desired results.

This is the only thing that is actually bothering me from quite a few time now. What is Uncertainty and why most of the questions have answers related to this factor.

Analytics

Analytics is just a tool but can be powerful weapon if you know what KPIs and KIAs to look for, but what in actual you analyse? The answer is simple, well you analyse the previous data or try to come up with a trend which again comes from that previous data. That is the only reason why most of us makes use of those Big Data Warehouses and Databases.

But the fact remains, as if all answers are hidden in the data, then why we are always told to “Think out of the box”, why are we told to come out with an innovation? An innovation of which no one has thought of earlier. Innovation means a new idea which is in its implemented form, And since innovation is all together a new idea and concept, still it has no previous data associated with it.
Then, are we playing a game with the Uncertainty factor? If in actual nobody has seen this new idea before then how can people expect the innovation to be a success?

The answer is simple, Uncertainty! You never in actual know what can lead to success or failure until you try new things.

Analysing the previous data and finding out “what actually worked and what actually not” is just a technique of remaining in a comfort zone or to be in a safe house. But to be truly successful you have to play a game with the Uncertainty factor.

For Example, an apparel manufacturer wanted to increase its sale via digital marketing platform, so what the marketers did was to see the trend as what time of the year was our sales high, and then they see a steep curve saying in X month our sales were high and we need to follow the same approach as we did that time. But it is then when the uncertainty factor kicks in as:
-          May be because of the discount season the sales were high
-          May due to seasonality factor
-          May be due to the festive season

This Way or That Way ?

The reason can be any one or all three, but you cannot repeat the same thing or cannot have the same performance over the entire year period.

Though I know that you are confused just like me, but Hey, I too am playing with the Uncertainty Factor.

It might be possible that you do not like this blog or might be possible that you like it. But my job is to share what I think, and not actually sharing things what you expect me to share what you like.

But if I keep on playing with this uncertainty factor it might happen that someday you like what I share.

So, keep rocking, analysing and play your digital musings like I do and do not forget to play with the Uncertainty factor!
