This song of the Bhaijaan's movie is ruling the chart-busters now, but what really is a selfie and how it really came into trend and why how actually it came into existence trend.

Online networking and the Social web has offered ascent to a weird wonder called the “Selfie”. However, not everybody is acquainted with the term, so here's a brief about the same.

That is it, truly. In any case, there's quite a lot more significance behind why we do it, and why its turn out to be such a huge hit.

No wonder, the front camera of our mobile devices has finally got a whole new meaning which earlier was used only for Video Calls. :p

Selfies are a good way to connect with people and to share as what are you up to, if you are sucked in a traffic jam, there you go... a selfie with the long lines of cars, if it is raining then a rainy selfie, sleeping selfie, being excited selfie, selfie with friends, selfie with you bae ! (<3)

Though we are in a content driven digital world, people do not actually have time to write down what actually they are feeling at that particular point of time, if they want to share something, then all that people do now, is to take out their smartphones, click a selfie, tag the selfie with the hashtag and share, it is actually that quick and easy.

Who Takes Selfies?

Each & every single person takes selfies, though the majority lies with the youth who are more into taking selfies and flaunt the same to their social media platform accounts. Well, other reason for the youth to be engaged more with the selfies is that the age groups from 18 to 35 are more digitally active compared to the other age basket counterparts. Though some of the selfie pictures are real close-ups to faces, while others has a hand/arm held straight outward and yes how can we forget the ones which are clicked in front of the bathroom mirrors so as to get the full body shots. The styles are many and I must say the process innovation of taking a selfie is evolving at a much higher rate.

While the frequency of taking a selfie has increased like 200x times  which actually means that out of those 200x attempts only one actually makes it to the social media profile (:p). Since social media is the driving force of most selfie activity, younger kids interested in staying connected to their friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, crushes or colleagues are more active in sharing selfies on a regular basis.

Why Do People Take Selfies?

Who recognizes what sort of mental elements drive any particular individual to take a selfie and share it to the social networking sites. Everybody's circumstance is distinctive, yet here are probably the most widely recognized hypotheses:

- To get attention from as many people as possible

- To get a self-esteem boost

- To show off

- To get a specific person’s attention (My Favorite :p)

- Boredom

- Because social media is fun

Though selfie now has a whole new meaning, like it was mentioned by our very own Prime Minister that somewhere in Haryana, a village Sarpanch initiated a  #SelfieWithDaughter initiative in order to promote and to encourage ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ Campaign.

Prime Minister urged us all to share a #SelfieWithDaughter so as to support this initiative. The Matrix of the Web was flooded with the selfies of fathers having clicked in with their daughters in support of the campaign.

This shows how the digital medium can be used for such a Nobel cause.
